Chris Harmer - Northern Beaches Photographer

I’m Chris Harmer, and I run Freshie Photography. I live in Freshwater, on Sydney’s beautiful Northern Beaches, with my partner of 6 years. My photography inspiration comes from the environment in which I live, close to the ocean.

It all started when I picked up my first DSLR as a teenager and began shooting down at the beach. Over the years my passion for people has led me to specialising in sports and event photography.

For me, photography is all about capturing those fleeting unique moments in time that will never be repeated. Most of my work involves the “weekend warriors” of sport, rather than professionals. I love that I can capture real people, in real moments, pursuing and achieving their own personal dreams. The smile (or occasional grimace) that people give off towards the end of a race, or when they shred their biggest ever wave, is something that simply can’t be posed and can’t be imitated.
